Begin Again: On Hard Times In July

The month of July was a polarizing month for me. There were some good points and some bad points. It was just overall a really strange month.

begin again

I can’t really complain though. It was a decent month. It could have been a lot worse.

I spent the month celebrating a few birthdays of family and friends. For the most part, I stayed consistent with the weight loss plan.

July is almost over and I wanted to highlight my weight loss progress over the past 31 days. I’ve made a few changes for the better.

Let’s get into it.

Food:

I’ve been super consistent with my food. As I’m writing this, I’ve tracked my food for exactly 200 days on MyFitnessPal.

That’s quite an accomplishment.

I haven’t veered off much from the plan. I did have birthday cake on two separate occasions but I have to live just a little right?

Breakfast and lunches have been somewhat the same as last month. Eggs and oatmeal in the morning. Lean Cuisine and roasted chicken for lunches.

Dinners have been somewhat different. We’ve been utilizing the crock pot more so there have been a lot of set it and forget it meals.

It works out well especially with a rambunctious 7-month-old in the house. She’s becoming mobile now.

Workouts:

Exercise has also been some of the same and some different.

My strength training has not changed. Still keeping with the 3 days a week of lifting. It works so why change it.

I completely changed cardio over the course of July.

Over the past month, I’ve been exclusively doing cardio on the rower.

It’s a great full body workout and it’s effective. I usually stay on it for 30-45 minutes for 2-3 days a week. Depending on how I feel a certain week.

I even tried a row class when I went to Alabama for a weekend.

That class was great. It consisted of the rower and various exercise that you did when you weren’t on the rower.
That class was from Crew Fitness and it was a 45-minute scorcher. Definitely check them out if you visit Mobile, Alabama or Houston, Texas (coming in Fall 2017).

Weigh In Days:

I started the month at 295.4 lbs. As of last Wednesday, I weighed in at 293.2 lbs.

I haven’t lost much. There were a couple of gains this month. Very slight ones which were totally upsetting.

I only want to see the scale go down but that’s not realistic. Weight fluctuates a lot.

I’ve had to learn that over the past couple of weeks. I got really down on myself and went to a negative place.

That doesn’t help either.

I know the weight will come off. I’ve done it before and will definitely do it again.

I just have to be patient with the process.

I can’t let the bad outweigh the good. I’m doing something for me and only me.

That’s all that matters.

The month hasn’t been that bad though. I hope August will show more progress on the actual progression of my weight loss.

I’ll just keep with my plan and see what comes of it.

Until next month…
