Two Begin Again weight loss updates in one week?

As the title states, I’m changing things up just a little. Not just in my weight loss routine but the blog as well.

I usually post these updates on Mondays but I think that too long. Now, I’ll be posting my updates on Fridays.

That’s the only news I have. Now, on to the update.

Begin Again

June 1, 2017 – June 7, 2017

It’s a new month and it’s time to change things up a little. I’ve been doing the same exercise routines and meals for the last 8 weeks or so.

It’s time to do something different. What am I doing?

I started out this week with burgers and roasted potatoes for dinner. That’s all well and good but I always want to try something different.

For the last half of the week, Angela suggested we have meatloaf. It’s an American staple and I was perfectly fine with it. Then she threw a curveball: can we make it with Buffalo sauce instead of tomato based sauce.

I had to agree with her request. It was actually a great idea. And it was fantastic. I would have never thought to combine those two. Genius!

I also switched up my lunches. My local grocery store is disappointing me with the disappearing selection of frozen meals that I usually buy. I want to try new frozen meals from different brands for lunch but I’m a creature of habit with my lunch.

So, I stuck with the old favorite of Lean Cuisine and just tried some of the different meals. I actually like them. Not love them. They get the job done.

Maybe I will break out of my comfort zone and try a new brand of meals. Maybe.

I switched my workouts up as well. I said last week that I was bringing an old friend back. Yes, I’m running again. Slowly. But I’m getting back to it.

I’m down 36 lbs so far and I’m going to slowly add it back into my cardio routine. I’m using the 10K Runner app on my phone to essentially train towards the Couch to 10K distance.

I have at least one race on my schedule so I’m going to get back to what I used to do.

I also started adding in some kettle bell exercises during my leg day workouts. I usually do about 75-100 reps as a finisher to my workout.

Weigh In Day:

I had no expectations for weigh in day. I just wanted to see what my progress was, take it and keep moving forward.

That’s exactly what I did.

I stepped on the scale and lost .4 lbs. I had no emotions about the number. I accepted it as a weight loss and not a gain.

Any loss is worth it to me. It just gets me that much closer to my goals. When I gained a few weeks ago, everyone told me not to worry about the scale. Just worry about how I feel.

I’m here to tell you that I’m not defined by what the scale says and neither should you. It’s a tool for your toolbox. Use it to see where your progress is. Then get off of it and get back to work.

Until next week…

How’s your weight loss progress going?
