Why Do I Love Running Louisiana Marathon Every Year?

We’re back from our time in Baton Rouge. I have to say that this year was hands down my favorite visit to Baton Rouge yet. Usually, I get sick during the weekend but luckily I held that at bay for the first time in three years.

This time, we had our friends Tyson, Missy and our goddaughter Emmy to enjoy the weekend with us. I have to say that this made the weekend 10x better.

We have been hyping this race up to them and others for the last few years and I think they now understand why we love Louisiana Marathon weekend.

My races went pretty well. I wasn’t expecting huge personal records. I was just going to just run, have fun, eat food and spend time with friends. I would say I accomplished all those tasks. So, why do I love running Louisiana Marathon every year?

I could say it’s because of the food. I usually tempt people in with that admission but it’s only one reason. I think the main reasons I like it so much is because:

                • …of my friends. It’s a great way to see people that you don’t get to see very often because of where you live relative to where they live. It’s like a yearly high school reunion!

              • …of the city. The city of Baton Rouge loves this race because of the participants that run it. There are so many people out to support and cheer you on as you run the streets of the city. You never feel like your alone as you run a 5K, the Quarter, the half marathon or the marathon.
              • …of the scenery.  The sights as you run the course are beautiful to say the least. You run around the LSU campus, the huge lake that is really pretty to look at, the architecture from Baton Rouge’a history and the nature that surrounds the city.
              • …of the food.  The food was and will always be one of the big reasons why I do this race. Who doesn’t want to eat and drink after a race? I don’t drink but I certainly do love great food. Louisiana Marathon delivers on the authentic Creole cuisine in abundance.

If you HAVE NOT done Louisiana Marathon, you should really consider doing the half or the full marathon in 2017. Baton Rouge loves runners. Runners love Baton Rouge. I think you will love this race too!

Happy #medalmonday. Showing off the bling @fueledxrunning and I got at @thelamarathon! And we got the tray for running both days. Fun times, great people and an awesome party! #geauxrunla #runlouisiana #running #runforbling #bling #runchat #runhappy #inst

What are some of your favorite races that you love to do year after year?
