Pardon The Interruption

After a long discussion with Angela over the holiday weekend, I’ve realized that the blog in its’ current state is starting to suffer. I’ll post frequently one week and infrequently the next week.

This erratic schedule is mostly coming from my lack of skills as a writer. The posts that you’ve seen on the blog were supposed to be motivational, inspirational and personal. Unfortunately, most of those posts lack a little bit of all three categories.

That’s not to say that my heart isn’t in to this blog. It most definitely is. I just never fully figured out a way to make the blog more personal.

This is where the change may help with that.

The blog is moving towards a more video based outlet.

Here’s the reason why:

I actually shot a video about why (which you can view below) but I feel it needs a little more explaining.

I created the blog to share my story. My side of what happens when I guy loses 300 pounds and what happens next. After losing 300 pounds, I thought I knew exactly what my story was but I was wondering around aimlessly.

I started running which, at first, I thought I was going to hate it. I was surprised that I didn’t though. I ran several half marathon races with Angela and enjoyed the experience of it as well as the travel aspect. Next, I started cooking. I was mesmerized by the process of cooking. I wanted to know how to do it more and more. Then, I started lifting weights aggressively. I fell in love with that as well.

Slowly, all those hobbies started to suffer. I still post about running, cooking, travel and strength training on the blog but not as much as before. My interest started waning. This is a common theme for me. I never stick to one thing long enough to really master it.

A brief history lesson about me.

In 2007, I graduated from the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis on TV, Radio, and Film Production.

It’s there that I feel in love with video editing. For over a year, I worked as a video editor at a local news station in Memphis. Then in 2009, I moved to Texas and I never quite found work in the same field again. Now, in 2015, Angela has started doing videos on YouTube for WeBeatFat. I’m so inspired by what she’s doing. She’s very much an introvert when it comes to being in the public eye. She’s been doing videos consistently for her YouTube channel for over a month and she’s really great at it.

I want to be great at something too. I love editing videos but I don’t have anything to edit. So, I’m committing to shooting something on video everyday. Then, creating something from that footage for YouTube and this blog twice a week. It’s exciting. It’s going to be a challenge but I definitely need a challenge right now.

Hopefully, these videos will show you readers a more personal side of me. Who knows, maybe documenting my life will get me back to doing more running, cooking, strength training, and travel. Time will tell. So again, pardon the interruption. Going forward, there should be no more of those.
